A Gold Coast wedding celebrant typically costs between $550 and $1,350 for a standard personalised ceremony, with premium fully-custom ceremonies reaching $1,500–$2,000 and legals-only ceremonies from around $400. For comparison, the registry charges $410 during weekday office hours and $534 on a Saturday morning, rising to $550 on a Friday evening and $704 on a Saturday evening, and it does not sit on Sundays at all.

Before you read the list
Nearly every wedding Pat does is on the Gold Coast, runs to a few dozen people, and costs between $500 and $600. That's the ordinary case, and it is deliberately priced under the market.
The second way exists for the weddings that aren't ordinary — the ones an hour or more up the road, the ones that take a whole Saturday rather than an afternoon, the ones with two families and three sets of expectations to hold together. Those cost more because they are more, not because a better version of Pat turns up.
What doesn't change between them: the three meetings, the ceremony written from scratch, the legal work done properly, and the rehearsal. None of that is a tier. It's the floor.
The differences between packages are in the ceremony itself — music, readings, your story, unity rituals — not in the legal work or the preparation. That part is never cut down, at any price. The couple paying $500 still gets all three meetings.

Tier one · Gold Coast ceremonies
For weddings around Benowa — Southport, Main Beach, Surfers, Broadbeach, Nerang and the suburbs between them. No travel fee, no Saturday loading, no add-ons.
Tier two · full-service weddings
For weddings outside the Gold Coast, or big enough that the ceremony is a day's work rather than an afternoon's. Quoted at the first conversation, before anything is booked.
You may be wondering why Pat's Gold Coast packages run $500–$600 when a Gold Coast wedding celebrant often runs $800–$1,350, and an independent celebrant working out of the registry runs around $750. Straight answer: Pat is retired. He has no office, no staff and no studio to carry, so the price isn't propping anything up — and he'd rather stay reachable to couples who are watching every line of the budget. It is a choice, not a discount.
And when a wedding does cost more, you can see exactly what the money bought: distance, a whole day, and a bigger ceremony. It is never a better Pat. There is only one of those, and everyone gets him.
What the price is not is a smaller version of the job. The three meetings happen at every price. The script is written from scratch at every price. The legal work is done properly at every price. Nothing has been taken out to reach the number.
Cheap isn't the problem. Unexplained is.
Here's the thing worth understanding about this market: the legal parts of your ceremony are fixed by law and identical everywhere. So the price difference between two celebrants is never about the legal work — it's about how much of themselves they put into the other fourteen minutes.
A low price with a real reason behind it is a bargain. A low price with nothing behind it usually means one meeting, a template, and your names dropped into somebody else's wedding. That's the risk worth avoiding — not the number itself.

Yes — in every package. The Notice of Intended Marriage (lodged at least one calendar month before the wedding), the declarations, the marriage certificate, and registration with Births, Deaths and Marriages. The one thing that sits outside the packages is a shortening of time application, when you're inside the month and need Births, Deaths and Marriages to approve a shorter notice: that's $200 for Pat to prepare and lodge.
A fixed figure per destination, priced on the drive there and back from Benowa. Most Gold Coast weddings cost nothing extra. In the full-service tier, travel is included and none of this applies.
Pat works these out on the drive there and back, not the distance on a map, which is why the southern beaches sit lower than you might expect and the range sits higher. That's the whole fee: it's quoted to you when you check your date, it goes on the booking, and it does not change afterwards. Somewhere further out, or not on the list at all? Traditional, at $550. The full-service tier is for weddings out of the area or big enough to take the whole day — Pat will tell you plainly which one your wedding is.
